Islamabad November 10: Federal Minister for Communications Dr.Arbab Alamgir Khan has said that the present government has focussed on the rapid socio-economic development of Gilgit-Baltistan. He was addressing huge public gatherings at various places of Gilgit-Baltistan today. He said upgradation of Karakoram Highway a part of National Trade Corridor (NTC) programme, is expected to cost Rs. 30 billion that will pave the way to facilitate transit trade traffic between Pakistan, China & Central Asian Republics. The PPP Government has announced a development package worth Rs.12 billion for uplift of this region. He hoped that the candidates of the PPP will emerge as successful in the coming elections of Gilgit Baltistan. He recalled that development of Gilgit & Baltistan has been the vision of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Shaheed and people of this region have deep sense of affection for Bhutto family & the PPP. The development package, he said, would bring about positive revolutionary changes in the life style of the people.
